My name is EJ.  I am a sculptor and book maker, and I am the sole resident artist of Dancing Grey Studio.  Currently, I create hand-bound books and journals of many varieties.  I was born in Japan and I was educated in the United States.  While growing up I was always surrounded by many beautiful, traditional Japanese arts and crafts.  This has developed in me a deep love for all hand-crafted things.  I am especially drawn to handmade paper objects.  

I share the Japanese aesthetic of finding beauty in simplicity, and the practice of solid craftsmanship.  I believe that functional objects should always be well-made, and I strive to meet that goal.  My journals never have unnecessary adornments; any markings you personally make in or on the journal are the best embellishments you can have.  I hope you will enjoy my work!
